Pulse diagnosis

Where every journey begins: your physician reads your constitution at the wrist and writes your plan from it.

Overview

Pulse diagnosis is how a traditional Chinese medicine physician assesses your health. It is the first step of every CuraMosaic programme.

The physician feels the pulse at three positions on each wrist, at three depths, and notes its speed, strength and quality. Together with your tongue and your answers to questions, this guides your treatment plan.

Why it’s done

Pulse diagnosis is used for:

  • Writing your personal treatment plan
  • Choosing which therapies suit you
  • Tracking your progress during the programme

Risks

Pulse diagnosis is non-invasive and has no physical risks. Keep in mind:

  • It does not replace tests from your own doctor
  • It cannot diagnose conditions such as cancer or heart disease

How you prepare

  • Bring recent test results and a list of your medications.
  • Avoid coffee, alcohol and exercise for two hours before.
  • Avoid strongly coloured food that morning.

What you can expect

Before the procedure

You sit quietly for a few minutes so your pulse settles.

During the procedure

The physician rests three fingers on each wrist for a minute or two, looks at your tongue and asks about your sleep, appetite, digestion and energy.

After the procedure

Your treatment plan for the trip is written that day, in English, and explained to you.

Results

You leave with a written plan. Your pulse is read again at later visits to track how you are changing.
